Jenny’s Canyon Trail is one of the shortest and most family-friendly hikes in Snow Canyon State Park, leading visitors through a beautiful desert landscape to a narrow sandstone slot canyon. Beginning at the Jenny’s Canyon Trailhead along Snow Canyon Drive, the easy half-mile round-trip hike follows a mostly level sandy path before entering the cool, sculpted red rock canyon. Along the way, hikers enjoy striking desert scenery, colorful wildflowers in spring, and dramatic rock formations. Despite its short length, Jenny’s Canyon offers one of the park’s most unique and rewarding experiences, making it a favorite for families, photographers, and first-time visitors.

More About Jenny’s Canyon
The trail begins at the signed Jenny’s Canyon Trailhead, located approximately one mile north of Snow Canyon State Park’s south entrance. The route follows a broad sandy path across open desert before crossing a dry wash and reaching the base of the sandstone cliffs. At a junction, hikers can turn left to explore the narrow slot canyon or continue right to a short scenic overlook with views across the canyon. The slot canyon is only a few hundred feet long, but its towering walls, smooth sandstone textures, and cool shade create a dramatic contrast to the surrounding desert. Differential erosion has sculpted the canyon into flowing curves, pockets, and narrow passages, while birds such as ravens, owls, and peregrine falcons occasionally nest high above the canyon walls. Portions of the trail include deep sand and uneven rock, but the hike remains suitable for most visitors.
The Jenny’s Canyon Trail is a hiking-only route and is one of the few trails in Snow Canyon State Park where bicycles and dogs are not permitted, helping preserve its quiet atmosphere and fragile environment. The trail can easily be combined with nearby destinations such as the Whiptail Trail, Pioneer Names Trail, and the south section of Snow Canyon Scenic Drive for a longer outing through the park. Spring brings colorful wildflowers to the trail, while the shaded slot canyon provides a welcome escape from the desert sun during warmer months. Although the hike takes only 20 to 30 minutes to complete, its accessibility, unique geology, and photogenic scenery make Jenny’s Canyon one of Snow Canyon’s most memorable stops.
