    Johnson Arch

Johnson Arch is one of the most striking natural landmarks in Snow Canyon State Park and a highlight of the Johnson Canyon area. This massive sandstone arch rises roughly 200 feet above the canyon floor, set against dramatic red and white Navajo sandstone cliffs. The arch is named after the Johnson family, early settlers in the area for whom Johnson Canyon was also named. Surrounded by shaded canyon walls, desert vegetation, and a seasonal natural spring, the area below the arch feels cool and secluded compared to the open desert beyond. It’s a rewarding destination for hikers, photographers, and anyone looking to experience one of Snow Canyon’s most impressive geological features. Please note that access to Johnson Arch is seasonal—typically closed from March 15 through September 14 to protect sensitive wildlife habitat—so check with park rangers before planning your visit.
